Great day of movement. I did a ton of walking. Started off by heading down to the Remembrance Day Ceremony in Prescott, then hoofed it down to get my haircut. When I arrived back home I took Ruby for a good walk.
I decided not to eat today, and am probably at about hour 50 since my last meal. I have never felt better. A few weird issues that had plagued me for quite a while have gone. I am glad I am continuing to learn about fasting and blood glucose. I see that my glucose hit 3.3 tonight. But, as I have learned, that is normal when you are fat adapted.
I’m in the midst of setting up my little home gym. I’m getting the craving to start resistance training. Something I have always liked to do. I will check in again tomorrow.

Another stellar say. I was slightly worried about my blood sugar being in the high 3s low 4s, but from what I’ve read that can be expected when you are using fat for energy.
I ate this evening, breaking a 46 hour fast. A healthy selection of protein, fats and unrefined carbs.

My weekly weigh-in and I’m down 6lbs! It took a bit of discipline and occasional discomfort, but well worth it. I’m gunning for a 48-hour fast now. I’m on about hour 26. As I’ve mentioned, I will eat if I get too uncomfortable and hungry, but since I had the fat break-through a few days ago, my hunger pains are getting farther in between.
I am very happy with my blood glucose. I have gone from 6’s in the morning to 5’s, which is an awesome improvement. I will continue to fast until I feel I need to eat.
My plan is to do OMAD Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, not eat Wednesday, Thursday and eat Friday night. But If I do an extended fast during the next few days I will adjust that schedule.
Day 8
Was very full of energy today, got a ton done. I started learning about the necessity of flexibility of metabolism.
The body is a miracle and complex form, and I find myself fascinated learning how it works. I think before I am through, I will see that it’s all about balance. And once I get this fat storage cleaned up, I will start to move towards balance. Not sure what that all entails, but I will find out.
I did experience some muscle cramps in my calf muscle through out the night. Not sure what that’s about. I’ve been taking supplements and electrolytes. Hopefully it was a one time incident. But hey, it was better than an alarm clock!

I just completed a 68 hour fast. Definitely had its ups and downs. The purpose of this extended fast was to get my body into fat burning mode. It took Fri-Monday eating OMAD and almost 24 hours of fasting before I hit ketosis. But now I’m in a good spot.
I was considering going longer, but this isn’t a race and I have to learn refeeding. For the first time I did it right. I had 2 cups of beef bone broth from Kettle and Fire. An hour later I had a hard boiled egg. Then stuffed peppers and cheese with asparagus and mushrooms. Check out the recipe!
I went for a stroll on such a wonderful fall day and did some reading at the waterfront. I will resume OMAD for another few days, then hit a 48.

Well, my morning glucose is down even more reading at 4.1. I have been fasting now for 36 hours and feel like I can continue going. I may have to revisit taking my metformin. I have had a reading at 3.8 which is getting on the low side.
I’m not weighing myself today. As I discussed in my Keeping It Simple video, the fewer things I allow myself to get obsessed with, the better chance at continued success. I’m feeling very good this morning. The old bones are a little stiff, but the thoughts of food are starting to subside.
3:30 PM
Huge break-through. My insulin levels must have been through the roof. After 4 days of OMAD and not eating since day 5, I am finally burning fat. I knew it happened because I went from lethargic to energetic and clear-headed. My hunger pains have disappeared, and my obsession with food has subsided.
It was a tough day. I didn’t feel like doing anything, but I forced myself to take the dog for a walk, and do the things I have committed to do, and it feels amazing. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
I am going to keep fasting for as long as I can. So nothing to report on the calorie end. I think I may weigh myself tomorrow.
Well, have a great evening! Looking forward to tomorrow.
