DIY Electrolyte Water Recipe for Fasting

When you’re fasting, keeping your electrolyte balance in check is essential. This homemade electrolyte water recipe is perfect for staying hydrated and energized without added sugars or unnecessary ingredients. Plus, it’s easy to make in batches!

Ingredients

For 1.8 liters (your trusty apple juice bottle works great!):

1.8 liters of water

1/2 teaspoon of sea salt or Himalayan salt (for sodium)

1/4 teaspoon of potassium chloride (for potassium) — look for “NoSalt” or a similar salt substitute

1/4 teaspoon of magnesium citrate or magnesium glycinate powder (for magnesium) — optional but helpful, especially during extended fasts

1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (ACV) — optional, adds flavor and may help with blood sugar balance

Juice of 1/2 lemon or lime — optional, for flavor and a vitamin C boost

A few drops of liquid stevia — optional, if you prefer a touch of sweetness

Instructions

1. Add all the water to your 1.8-liter bottle or container.

2. Pour in the salt, potassium chloride, and magnesium powder.

3. If using, add the apple cider vinegar, lemon or lime juice, and stevia drops.

4. Shake well until everything is fully dissolved.

How Much to Drink

Daily Serving: Aim to drink about 3-4 cups (750-1000 ml) of this electrolyte water each day, sipping slowly and spacing it out. This amount supports hydration and electrolyte balance during fasting without overdoing it.

Extra Cups: You can drink more if needed, especially if you feel lightheaded or experience muscle cramps, which can be signs of electrolyte imbalance.

Notes

Taste Adjustment: Feel free to adjust the salt and ACV levels to suit your taste.
